Now that it might actually be spring (keep your fingers crossed), it's time to dig your bike out of the garage and dust it off! Ohio has a plan in the works to finish the Ohio to Erie Trail – a multi-use paved path spanning the state from Cincinnati to Cleveland, crossing through Columbus, Akron, and London. The path currently passes through park lands, forests, and urban areas, so users will get a taste of everything Ohio has to offer. The green highlights on the map are the paved sections, yellow indicates dirt paths, and the red parts are roads.
The trail is over 80% finished, with just a few missing pieces. This summer, Columbus Metro Parks is teaming with the Ohio Department of Transportation to close the gap on the west side of Franklin county. Once completed, this will be the longest off-road paved trail in the country. Maps will be available this summer. Check out the Ohio to Erie official site here.
