This weekend is the world-famous, largest of it's kind, Hell City Tattoo Festival. Held at the Hyatt Regency Downtown, this event is a 3-day long, MUST-SEE festival with over 200 tattoo artists tattooing and showcasing their artwork. The event is annual, and has grown significantly in the past few years. A documentary focusing on the festival is said to be released at this year's event! Hell City is now held in Arizona once a year as well, but “Killumbus” is the festival's "home." Hell City will have everything from tattoo competitions, to drinks (yum!), to temporary tattoos for the kids (yes, Hell City is family friendly!) to tons of artists from all over the place!
Durb Morrison is the mastermind behind Hell City. He started tattooing with professional tattoo equipment at the early age of 17 and has been a huge contribution to tattooing as an art in not only Columbus, but the world. He currently tattoos at Red Tree Tattoo Gallery and he is the creator of True Tubes. He is also married to Suicide Girls staff photographer, Alissa Brunelli.
A few logistical things:
I will be there all day tomorrow (Saturday), so come out and find me (I know, it may be hard to spot me, due to all the tattoos. I have a '30s style comic book sleeve, hopefully that'll help!).
Even if you aren't into tattoos, I encourage you all to at least check Hell City out, because Ohio has a huge portion of the tattoo society living right here, and representing Ohio is what it's all about! As a member of the tattoo society, I'm very proud to have Hell City call Ohio “home,” because I do the same.
Kylie, currently living in Michigan, but still Ohio Proud with her ink!
Laurie and Kevin showing their pride too!
I will be posting pictures from the event in a future blog post! Also, look out for some future posts about some of my favorite local tattoo shops and artists, such one of my personal favorites, Richard Cook.
Gotta get ready for Hell City! See you all there!
