Seventh Son Brewing is a (very) new brewery in Columbus. Located at the corner of N. 4th Street and E. 4th Avenue, this place has a lot of charm. The building used to be an old tire place, appropriately named “Kelly Tires.” Seventh Son worked with the little gems that the building had to offer, such as garage doors and their own parking lot (such a huge plus!), and has transformed this once dirty, abandoned building, into a hip, industrial, and rustic bar with delicious beer.
The bar frequently has a food truck in the parking lot, too. So, don't worry. You won't starve. They are even open for brunch! Their hours are as follows: Thursday 5pm-1am, Friday 5pm-2am, Saturday 11am-2am, Sunday 11am-12am. Word on the street, is that they will soon have a community garden in the back as well! We will have to wait and see what kind of goodies come from this!
My favorite thing about this place is the openness. When the weather permits, the garage doors come up. Enjoying a tasty beer with the breeze hitting your body is one of the most relaxing feelings I've ever felt. The patio is a favorite as well. There are fire pits, strung lights, and a lot of happy people.
My bartenders today were Sarah and Johnny (hi, guys!). Overhearing a customer asking Sarah about their selection of beer, I could not have been more proud to hear her response: “We try to keep it local.” Really, that's what it's all about. Keepin' it local, and representing the place you love. For me, that's Ohio.
Seventh Son released their first three beers on April 20th, a strong ale, a pale ale, and a stout. They also have a wide selection of local beers including brews from Jackie O's, Barley's, and Great Lakes (some of my all-time favorites!).
You can also rent out either a portion (the back room) or the whole entire place, which I plan to do for my upcoming birthday. Email Jen for more details about renting space HERE!
This place could not be any cooler. I am personally looking forward to many more nights at Seventh Son Brewing, as well as watching them grow as a brewery. If you happen to be in the Columbus area, you HAVE to check them out. You won't regret it.
