Not sure when or how it happened, but Alms Park has become one of my favorite parks in Cincinnati-definitely in the top 3! It's my favorite place to escape to after a long day, or just on a nice afternoon when I want to relax outdoors. In college I used to drive from Clifton to Mariemont on a regular basis, so I would drive through Columbia Tusculum at least once a week. One day, I decided to turn off Columbia Parkway and drive up the hill to Alms Park. It became a habit, and I ended up spending a lot of time at the park.
I really love Alms Park because it's up on a hill overlooking the river and it's always very peaceful up there. It's not a huge park by any means, but there's plenty of things to do. My favorite place in the park is the overlook of the river. It has an amazing view and is a perfect place to watch the sunset. I stopped there last night after work to just relax and snapped a picture on my phone:
There is also another overlook of the Lunken Airport where you can watch planes take off and land, but I prefer the river view. The park also has a great playground and a pavilion:
The fall is the best time of year to stop by Alms because the leaves are always so beautiful there! I took about 100 pictures of the foliage last fall. In fact, you'll probably be seeing another post about the park this fall once the leaves start to change. But I definitely recommend taking an day and stopping by Alms Park to check out what it has to offer! The park is open from 6 am-10 pm everyday.
