The John W. Galbreath Bicentennial Park is part of The Scioto Mile in the heart of Columbus. This park may be a small part of the full stretch of The Scioto Mile, but it is a fantastic park. Its main attraction is definitely the recently new addition of The Scioto Mile Fountain. This fountain is amazing! By day, it serves as a waterpark for Columbus residents. During the hot summer days, you can find it full of laughing kids and maybe even a few adults.
By night, it is an absolutely beautiful display of water, light and fog-pictures yet to come...I will definitely be making a trip back in the evening again and bringing my camera with me next time. It's worth checking out for sure though, whether by day or night!
Not only does Bicentennial Park have this amazing fountain, but it also has a permanent Performing Arts Pavilion. The stage hosts many different events from music to dance to theatre. Not to mention all these events are free to the public! Check out the Event Calendar for any upcoming events at the park or along the Mile!
Also, if you are hungry, there just happens to be an amazing restaurant located right beside the fountain in the park. Milestone 229 not only has some incredible food, but also has some spectacular views of both the park and the skyline. Considering the dining room is sided by entirely glass, you can take in views on every side. There is also a huge outdoor patio to sit on and enjoy the fountain views! This building is architecturally stunning. Again, more pictures to come :)
In the meantime, head down there one afternoon and check it out! Cool off in the fountain-it is perfect for these hot summer days we've been having!
