So maybe I'm the only one out there who loves the Renaissance Festival, but I highly doubt it. Ever since I was in elementary school I have attended the Ohio Renaissance Festival on almost an annual basis. I just think it is so fun to transport back in time a bit and have fun watching jousting, sword fighting and of course The Mudde Show! Also a turkey leg is a must...obviously.
The Ohio Renaissance Festival It takes place every fall in Harveysburg, OH beginning Labor Day weekend and running through mid-October. They have different theme weekends too which can make it really fun. (Last year I went on Pirate Weekend and had a blast!) There are a ton of fun shops there full of art, beautiful jewelry and costumes, swords and weaponry, and lots of other awesome handcrafted goodness.
The Mudde Show is one of my favorite things about the Renaissance Festival! They put on comedic renditions of classic tales such as Beowulf and Dante's Inferno and they all take place in mud. Lots of mud. As you can tell from the picture above, I always sit at least a good 10 rows back... Besides The Mudde Show, I love watching some jousting while eating a big turkey leg and drinking a beer. Or maybe watch some dueling swordsmen or any of the other entertainment that is always going on. Sometimes I even stop by the medieval torture house...
I've never not had a good time while there! So it's definitely an event worth checking out. It's also one of the biggest Renaissance Festivals in the country, which is pretty cool. It's open every Saturday and Sunday from 10:30-6:00 through October 20th.
