Confession: I have never been a huge fan of donuts. And I realize that probably puts me in the minority, but it's the truth. However, a couple months ago I was randomly driving and ended up in Williamsburg where I saw a mural that caught my eye. So I pulled into the parking lot to take a picture and this is what I saw:
Unfortunately for me, they had already closed the shop for the afternoon! So instead I went home and looked up Holtman's Donuts and found out I was a little out of the loop! A family shop that opened in 1960 has stuck around by making some fantastic donuts-in fact, they were voted the Best Donuts 2012 by readers in Cincinnati Magazine.
I finally made it to their shop in Loveland today and was actually excited to eat some donuts. The smell as soon as you walk in the door is enough to do you in.
They currently have the two locations in Williamsburg and Loveland, but they are also opening a shop THIS WEEK down in Over-The-Rhine for all of you that live a little closer to downtown! The new shop opens up on Saturday, September 14th right on Vine Street just a little south of 14th. Holtman's makes some amazing donuts from scratch and they are delicious-I've been told they are the best fresh in the morning. But they do bake twice a day so the donuts are kept really fresh. I had to get a few while I was there, it was impossible to resist...
They have so many different kinds, so I just picked at random, but after a bite of each I realized you can't really go wrong. So if you love donuts, or even if you don't, check out Holtman's Donuts and enjoy some delicious, fresh, from scratch donuts! I love small shops like these because they always have the best stuff, and this place is no exception! So support some loca business and slam some donuts all in one visit!
Holtman’s Doughnuts are better than any other doughnut I’ve ever tasted!! They even make Giant doughnuts which are like cake size. We got one for our son, for his birthday cake, because he loves doughnuts so much! They will even write on it for you. One thing about the giant doughnut though, it does have to be ordered in advance.Holtman’s is Tops!!
