Three words: Great Lakes Brewery. I mean, come on. They name their beers after famous people and events in our great state. How could we not choose them? For example, did you know that Great Lakes’ Dortmunder Gold was originally named Heisman Lager because John Heisman was a local area resident? Cool, right?! They also have their Burning River Pale Ale which got its name because of that one awkward time when the Cuyahoga River caught fire. Oops. That’s one way to spark a new era of environmentalism! But our favorite Great Lakes brew has to be the Edmund Fitzgerald Porter. This one was named after that terrible night when the Edmund Fitzgerald sank in Lake Superior. An unfortunate event, but a stellar brew!
